Grandpa's Diatomaceous Earth Food Grade 3lb

Diatomaceous Earth for Non-Toxic, Non-Chemical Insect Control

Diatomaceous Earth is fossilized remains of microscopic diatoms, a type of hard-shelled algae. Under a microscope, they look like shards of glass. It is a fine powder that is only harmful to insects with exoskeletons. When an insect comes in contact with the powder, the microscopic diatoms cut the exoskeleton causing dehydration and death.

Use as a non-toxic insect control as there are no chemicals involved:
  • Apply directly to your pets skin
  • Can also be spread around the house and furniture
  • Works on all insects with exoskeletons including fleas, ticks, ants, cockroaches and bed bugs

Use diatomaceous earth around the farm to:
  • Treat mites or lice on chickens with DE by adding some to their dust bath
  • Repel flies – sprinkle it in common manure areas where flies tend to congregate
  • Protect crops from bugs – Dusting DE in the garden will help eradicate common garden pests such as aphids, ants, earwigs, slugs, and much more, saving crops in the process
  • Treat working animals such as barn cats and cattle dogs to control fleas and ticks. Apply to fur and work in to rid pets of pests

Use it as a mechanical pesticide:

Diatomaceous earth is a non-toxic way to control pests in the garden. It is effective against all insect pests that crawl on plants because contact with the powder is extremely dehydrating.

  • Keep slugs off your plants
  • Eliminate flies
  • Get rid of maggots in compost and manure
  • Control aphids
  • Get rid of ants
  • Dust the plants, and anthills with diatomaceous earth to get rid of them.
  • Keep mite, ticks & flea populations down
  • Discourage rodents from visiting your garden
  • Use it as a deodorizer
  • Use it in pots and containers to increase porosity
